Greater Philadelphia’s information technology sector is the 6th largest in the country.

Powerhouses located in Greater Philadelphia include ACS International, CAI, Computer Science Corp, Lockheed Martin, SAP North America, Siemens and Unisys, just to name a few.

There were 17 Information Technology (IT) venture capital deals (software, computers, peripherals and IT services) in 2006 totaling $79.6 million in funding, averaging $4.68 million per deal. This allocation of the region’s venture capital, makes Greater Philadelphia a good place for young IT companies.  Many of them have made it onto “fastest growing companies” lists and Philadelphia was named one of the top Cybercities by American Electronics Association in 2005.
